Staff update

I am delighted to let you know that Andrea Hudson has been appointed to the role of HR Business Manager for the School of Physical Sciences with effect from 1 August, taking over from Ed Webster when he leaves us in the summer. Andi will continue to cover the Employee Relations Manager role for the time being whilst Suzanne Fowler is on maternity leave but over the coming months will start to work more closely with Ed so we can ensure a smooth transition. Recruitment for a new HRBM for the School of Clinical Medicine is ongoing but I hope to conclude that within the next couple of weeks.

Philippa Morphew will be covering Anna Crichton’s role as HRA in the Physical Sciences team whilst Anna is on maternity leave. Philippa has started some work with the team and will move fully to that role when Emma Mason returns to work on 14 April. We look forward to welcoming Emma back and are very pleased that Philippa will be staying with us. The safe arrival of Anna’s baby girl last week was great news and congratulations go to Anna and her growing family!

I am also pleased that Lisa Clare will be staying with the team providing cover for much of Tracy’s role when she goes on maternity leave in June. Lisa has been working with the Biological Sciences team for the last 6 months and has developed good relationships with the departments which will stand her in good stead for the period whilst Tracy is away.

Finally, a new member of the team joins next Monday when Molly Castle takes up the role of HR Administrator for the UAS and NSI’s. Kal has done a fantastic job in providing cover in that team whilst we recruited for a permanent administrator and we are very grateful to her for her hard work over the last few months. She will be working with Indi on some project work for the next month or so before she moves on to new things.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Nick Smith who leaves us on Monday. Nick has been a tremendous support to the division leading a number of projects particularly auto enrolment, something not for the faint hearted, and I am very grateful to him for all he has done for the Division in the last eighteen months.
