The University acknowledges that these are exceptional circumstances and is committed to putting measures in place to ensure that no employee is financially disadvantaged.

The Employee Welfare Loan Scheme is available to support eligible staff facing short-term financial difficulties. It has been temporarily increased from £500 to a maximum of £1000 for applications received between 20 April and 31 July 2020, in light of the current COVID-19 crisis.

A new Staff Hardship Grant Scheme is also currently available to eligible staff who find themselves in extreme hardship arising from the coronavirus outbreak but who are not eligible for the Employee Welfare Loan scheme. The scheme is initially open to applications until 31 July 2020 and may be extended further by the University if the current COVID-19 disruption persists beyond this date.
