The University’s position is that all employees should perform their role in the UK, where possible, in order to mitigate the compliance risk and associated costs of overseas working.

Overseas working should only take place where authorised by the Global Mobility Team in line with the Global Mobility Policy or in accordance with other guidance available on the Global Mobility Webpages, after all the necessary due diligence and compliance checks have been carried out.

New appointees coming to the UK from overseas

It is is acknowledged that new appointees, who are relocating from overseas to commence their role in the UK, may experience ongoing difficulties in relocating due to Covid-19, notably due to:

  • A delay in processing their visa application (due to visa centre closures);
  • Travel bans/restrictions, local lockdowns
