Reminder of the December deadline for appointment and amendment paperwork

Please be reminded that, due to an early pay date ahead of Christmas, there is a deadline of 28th November 2014 for appointment and amendment paperwork to reach the New Appointment and Amendment teams for processing in December.

Fraudulent job adverts and offers of employment

The HR Division has become aware of a number of cases where individuals have been made a fraudulent offer of employment after replying to an advert placed on an Italian website by an individual falsely claiming to represent the University. If you receive enquiries relating to similar cases, please forward details to Liz Timperley-Preece, Head of Recruitment, at liz.timperley-preece@admin.cam.ac.uk who will respond on behalf of the University.

1) Immigration and Right to Work Update - for reference and action - this covers:
- Recent changes to the Immigration Rules affecting Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visas, the Business Visitor route and TUPE transfers;
- Repeat right to work checks for leavers;
- A new charge being introduced for the Tier 2 Priority Premium Service; and
- A reminder on the need to ensure that offers of employment made to those requiring a Tier 2 visa are in accordance with the details advertised.
- A reminder on the right to work requirements when employing Croatian nationals.

2) Recruitment Update – for reference and action – this covers:
- Changes to advertising PhD Studentships on jobs.ac.uk;
- A reminder to use RAS to request and obtain permission to fill;
- A reminder to identify required screening checks at the start of the recruitment process;
- New DBS forms being issued and the old forms not being accepted by the DBS from 1st December;
- A new DBS training event
- A reminder that the behavioural attributes can be used in recruitment;
- Updated Recruitment Guidance and templates;
- A reminder to use the leaver arrangements template letters; and
- The break required before an individual joins the Temporary Employment Service (TES) after the end of employment with the University.
