
The University of Cambridge operates an annual Contribution Reward Scheme (Academic & Research) (henceforth referred to as “the scheme”). The purpose of the scheme is to recognise and reward eligible employee’s achievements on the basis of their performance and contribution to the University.
It is important to note that the scheme is distinct from the University's promotion schemes. The scheme gives eligible employees the opportunity to progress through the spine points of their current grade via a contribution increment or receive a one-off single contribution payment in recognition of their work.

Contribution increments are awarded in recognition of continued exceptional contribution.

Single contribution payments are awarded to employees in recognition of their contribution in relation to a short-term piece of work or for employees who have reached the top of their grade.
Nominations will be assessed in two stages. Firstly, at an institutional level by the Head of Institution, before final assessment is made by the Awarding Authority of the School or Non-School Institution to which the nominee belongs.

All those involved in the scheme, either as a prospective nominee, line manager, institution or Awarding Authority member are expected to read and be familiar with this guidance.
