Application Process

Round 14 for the period 1 February 2020 to 31 July 2020 will launch in August 2019

Requests for funds outside of the funding rounds can be made in exceptional circumstances. Out of round requests for urgent funding to be spent before the beginning of Round 14 (1 February 2020) should be submitted in the manner below and should justify their urgency. Such ad hoc applications, for small items of funding only (up to £3,000), will be considered expeditiously on a case-by-case basis.

An application to the Scheme should contain a completed application form (below) and:

  • A current Curriculum Vitae
  • A statement of support from the Head of Department (or nominated deputy) including confirmation that the application is in line with the aims of the Scheme, that the items requested are of personal benefit to the member of staff, that there is no other source of funding (e.g. grant funding) and (if relevant) that there will be no adverse affect on colleagues (e.g. if the application is for teaching relief).

Further information

Applications for funding will be considered by a Committee chaired by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Institutional and International Relations. It will prioritise applicants who are requesting funds for the first time. If there are more eligible requests than there is available funding, awards will be given to those requests which the Committee considers will have the most impact.

Outcomes

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application for Round 14 in early December 2019.
