Normally unpaid, on condition that the officer is receiving salary from alternative source. The savings from the officer's stipend would be placed in a departmental account to be used at the Head of Department's discretion, primarily to cover replacement costs for the officer. [An officer may remain on the payroll where a Research Council or other funding body provides reimbursement of stipend costs or cost of replacement cover] |
