John Nicolson, the Technician Commitment Co-ordinator, for the PPD section in HR, has won a Professional Services Recognition award.   

The award ceremony took place on Monday 11 December inside the Whale Hall, at the Museum of Zoology, where the winners of the 2023 Professional Services Awards were announced.  

A total of 16 awards were given out, ranging across various departments of the University. Categories included ‘Going above and beyond’, ‘Being kind to colleagues’ and ‘Being an Unsung Hero.’  

John was shortlisted in the category ‘Working as a team’ and won an individual award.  

Fiona Craig, General Manager/DA for the Department of Pathology was the one who nominated him and described John as a: “A top technician, with complete commitment.” 

“He has also supported the recruitment of technicians by attending events and developing promotional materials. His dedication to supporting his entire community, whatever their career stage or discipline is inspiring.” 

Professor David Cardwell, Pro Vice Chancellor for Strategy and Planning and Technician Champion said: "John has worked tirelessly with colleagues across the University to progress the Technician and Apprenticeship agenda, and this award is a highly deserved recognition of his outstanding efforts to date. I’m delighted for both him and the team he represents.”
