If you wish to request mediation please contact the HR Business Manager or HR Adviser for your Institution who will make arrangements, through the Mediation Coordinator, to initiate a formal mediation.

Two mediators, who will not be members of the same institution(s) and who are acceptable to each party, will normally be nominated within five working days of the Human Resources Division receiving the request. The mediator will arrange to meet the parties to start the process and begin to seek a resolution as quickly as possible, normally within five working days. An outline of the procedure that will be followed is set out in the flowchart below:

Mediation requires the agreement of each of the parties concerned; they can withdraw at any stage in the process.

In certain cases, the intervention of an external mediator to the University might be recommended with your agreement.
