Salary progression

Incremental progression through the service-related points in grades 1 to 10 occurs on the incremental date. For Academic, Academic-related and Research staff this is the anniversary of appointment. For further details, please see the Staff Guide.

For Assistant staff who have been in post for at least three months, this is normally the 1 April, 1 July or 1 October, respectively, for Manual, Clerical/Secretarial and Technical Division appointments. For further details, please see the Assistant Staff Handbook.

Contribution points

The salary ranges for grades 1 to 11 include contribution increments for Assistant and Academic-related staff. These are awarded via the Contribution Increments Scheme in recognition of outstanding and sustained performance of individual post holders.

For academic staff other than Professors, contribution will be recognised through the promotions procedure rather than through the use of contribution points. You can find information on Professorial pay on the Contribution Reward and Progression Schemes webpage.

Research Assistants, Associates and Senior Research Associates are appointed to grades 5, 7 and 9, respectively and are eligible for discretionary awards under the scheme for research staff.

Annual Pay Review

Any nationally negotiated pay increases will normally be applied from 1 August for non-clinical staff and 1 April for clinical staff.
