Human Resources

The University’s West Cambridge Day Nursery, has received an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating for a third time, following an inspection in May.

This result is only given to 10% of all Early Years providers and the inspector praised West Cambridge Day Nursery staff, for providing a “harmonious and happy learning environment” for children.

The inspector also highlighted: “all groups of children, including those who speak English as an additional language and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make the very best progress in their learning and development.” The inspector explained that this was due to the staff who “expertly use their knowledge of individual children to ensure the experiences they have accurately reflect what they need to know and understand next.”

Reflecting on the result, Catherine Pearson, Head of Childcare Services said: “We are absolutely delighted that West Cambridge Day Nursery has once again been rated Outstanding by Ofsted for the third time. This recognition is a testament to the passion and dedication of the nursery team, who continue to work hard to create a warm, stimulating, and inclusive environment for every child.”

Ofsted Inspector, Katrina Rodden explained: “Children thrive in the well-run nursery. They freely move around to explore, experiment and investigate with the wide range of resources both inside their group rooms and gardens. Staff expertly use their knowledge about the children they care for to ensure resources that reflect children's interests are readily available. In addition, staff add further items to help support even more learning experiences.”

West Cambridge Day Nursery Manager, Lesa Clare said: "This third Outstanding outcome reflects the passion, dedication, and belief we all share in every child’s potential. It’s a privilege to lead a team so committed to creating an environment where children feel valued, inspired, and truly at home. This recognition belongs to every practitioner, parent, and child who makes our nursery so special.”
