Making an application

If you wish to apply to register with TES, please complete our online form below and upload your CV. We have a large pool of temporary workers and so we are not able to register all applicants. Applications are considered based on skills and experience that are relevant to the roles that we are typically asked to fill. See below for profile of candidates we are particularly looking for currently. If we think you may have the relevant experience our clients require then you will be invited to attend a short interview at the TES office. Those applying for administrative/secretarial work will also be required to take a skills test.

In order to consider your application we need to be able to clearly assess your skills and experience. In addition, your CV represents you to our clients when they are considering you for assignments. To this end, please follow our CV tips. If CVs do not clearly show your skills and experience then we will not be able to consider the application.

On receiving your application we will either:

  • Respond to invite you to an online interview and to undertake our skills tests; or
  • Repond to say unfortunately we are not able to take your application further; or
  • Hold your application and respond at a later date if we currently have no space in the temporary worker pool for you, but might do so in the future.

Please note: If you have already made direct arrangements with a University department/institution to work temporarily with them, you are not required to complete the online form. Instead, please call the TES office on (01223) 332348 or email us at temps@admin.cam.ac.uk to arrange a payroller appointment. You must attend this appointment before you start any work.

Equal opportunities

The University of Cambridge is committed to equality of opportunity, supports and encourages under-represented groups and values diversity and inclusion. In accordance with the University's Equal Opportunities Policy, subject to the law, no TES applicant or temporary worker will be treated less favourably than another on the grounds of sex, gender reassignment, marital/civil partnership or parental status, race, ethnic or national origin, colour, disability, sexual orientation, religion/belief or age. Registration decisions and selection for assignments will be based on personal merit, experience relevant to the temporary assignments available, the needs of our departments/institutions requesting temporary workers and the matching of available assignments with the availability of workers.

The University welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities. We are committed to ensuring fair treatment throughout the recruitment process. We will make adjustments to enable applicants to compete to the best of their ability wherever it is reasonable to do so and, if successful, to assist them during their work assignments. We encourage you to declare any disability that you may have, and any reasonable adjustments that you may require. This will enable us to accommodate your needs throughout the process as required. However, applicants and workers may declare a disability at any time.

The University of Cambridge has a Rehabilitation of Offenders Policy which explains that we welcome applications from a wide range of candidates and that having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the assignment and the circumstances and background of your offences.

Right to work in the UK

We have a legal responsibility to ensure that all of our workers have the legal right to work in the UK before they undertake any work. If you are invited to register with us, you will need to show us original documents from List A or List B below which provide evidence that you have right to work in the UK.

Temporary workers cannot undertake or be paid for work through TES until after we have checked valid evidence of right to work. Please contact us if you require further information or guidance.
