Policy Consultations in Easter Term 2021/22

Views are sought on the development of a Mutual Respect Policy (to replace the current Dignity at Work Policy) and a revised Grievance Policy.  These proposed Policies have been prioritised in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and form part of the University's Recovery Plan.

This consultation will be an important opportunity for us to listen to the views of our community on these amended Policies so that we can ensure they are incorporated into their ongoing development.

Thank you to those institutions, groups and individuals who participated in the HR Policy Consultation exercise during Michaelmas Term 2020.

The Report below summarises the responses received and the next steps to be taken in Lent term to further develop a Mutual Respect Policy (to replace the current Dignity at Work Policy), a revised Grievance Policy, and a new Redeployment Framework.

New public health measures for all UK arrivals from 8 June 2020

New government requirements for all arrivals into the UK New government public health measures for arrivals into the UK come into effect from 8 June 2020, applying to all nationalities and regardless of the length of time away from the UK. Coronavirus: Financial hardship schemes launched

The University acknowledges that these are exceptional circumstances and is committed to putting measures in place to ensure that no employee is financially disadvantaged.

The Employee Welfare Loan Scheme is available to support eligible staff facing short-term financial difficulties. It has been temporarily increased from £500 to a maximum of £1000 for applications received between 20 April and 31 July 2020, in light of the current COVID-19 crisis.

Improved Emergency Leave for Dependants

The University's provision for emergency leave for dependants is being extended with effect from 1 October 2019.  The changes include up to 5 working days' paid leave in any rolling 12-month period (pro-rated for part-time employees), with a limit of 2 working days of paid leave on any single occasion.

Now Open: Staff Survey 2019

The first University Staff Survey is now open and closes at midnight on 25 March 2019. The survey provides all employees with the opportunity to say what they think about a range of workplace topics. All responses are anonymous.

All staff members will be emailed a link to the web-survey and those without access to email will receive a paper survey.
