At the beginning of this academic year, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Toope spoke about the importance of strengthening equality and inclusion, and of promoting dignity, respect and a sense of belonging for all at the University.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated a commitment to “openness to the wider world…being inclusive, and open to diversity in all its forms – diversity of interests and beliefs, of gender, of religion, of sexual identity, of ethnicity, of physical ability.”
As part of this commitment, the Vice Chancellor announced that we were developing a Diversity Fund to support initiatives and projects that promote equality and inclusion. Today we can officially announce that the University Diversity Fund (UDF) is open to applications from staff and students. We anticipate to run this internal funding scheme on a yearly basis.
The UDF provides grants of up to £1500 to projects that aim to embed diversity and inclusion – whether it is in education, research or administration - and address inequalities in the University.
The UDF aims to support initiatives across the University that contribute to raising awareness of issues related to equality and diversity, challenge discrimination and inequalities, increase the representation of under-represented groups, and facilitate implementation of good practice.
University staff and students are welcome to apply if they have a project that meets the above criteria and seeks to contribute to the University’s equality and diversity strategy and priorities for action in the area of ‘race’.

If you have a project that fits the criteria and you would like to apply to the Fund, please read the attached Further Information, fill in the Application Form and send it to equality@admin.cam.ac.uk.
