Childcare vouchers (with certain restrictions), a Workplace Nurseries’ Salary Exchange Scheme, access to three University nurseries and a Holiday Playscheme are available through the Childcare Office to help support University employees with childcare responsibilities. Family friendly leave is also available to aid employees’ work-life balance including maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave, flexible working and career break schemes.

Flexible working

The University will consider requests for working flexibly, for example to work part-time. All staff will find full details in our flexible working policy.

Career break scheme

The University has developed a career break scheme for academic and academic-related staff. The scheme allows working to be at a minimum of 10% of full-time hours.

My Family Care

As part of our commitment to wellbeing and supporting employees with caring responsibilities the University of Cambridge has launched a new initiative in collaboration with the organisation My Family Care. My Family Care delivers family-friendly backup care and will give employees access to a network of child, adult and eldercare across the country at short notice. Find out more here.
